  • Oct. 28th, 2009 at 10:29 AM
Issues regarding credit cards offered to students have reached far. In fact, a certain hearing reflected that credit card practices are affecting students especially college ones. In said hearing Benjamin Lawsky (a special assistant), to Andrew Cuomo (New York State Attorney General) was asked to state his investigations. According to him, he has found out that there are highly lucrative and secret agreements in between credit card companies and schools (college). These schools allow the marketing inside their campuses─ thus, affecting education.

The issue discussed earlier should be familiar to students like you. If you plan to get a credit card, be responsible enough to have a decent way of having one. That is, credit cards offered to students must be on the right place, right time, and right company. In view of choosing the best, consider some aspects like: 0% APR (intro), low interest rate, outstanding rewards program, etc. It is not advisable to get the one with lowest interest rate. You should still consider the rewards program and other aspects like annual fee. On the other hand, best rewards program must not be the only consideration since other credit cards have best rewards, while the interest rate is very high. For these instances learn to balance everything and consider all aspects involved in getting credit card.

It is only a matter of consideration, research, and balance. Do not be easily get carried away by agents who just want to sell you their product. Wise buy is the one necessary.
